What You Need

Audiofy audiobook chips can be played on desktop and laptop computers running Microsoft Windows - specifically, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me (Millennium edition) or Windows 98.

You will need an SD memory card slot or adapter for inserting Audiofy audiobook chips into your computer, such as the Audiofy USB Reader (click here) or media card readers typically used with digital cameras.

Recent computer models sometimes have built-in SD memory card slots, and some "photo printers" designed for use with digital cameras have built-in SD memory card slots as well. Like a computer mouse, each of these devices is typically plugged into an open, rectangular-shaped USB connector on the side of your computer, or along the side of an attached display, keyboard or USB hub.

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. Make sure you have plugged your Audiofy USB Reader, or a similar media card reader, into an open, rectangular-shaped USB connector on the side of your computer, or along the side of an attached display, keyboard or USB hub. (In some cases, recent computer models may have built-in SD memory card slots.)
  2. Insert an Audiofy audiobook chip into the SD Card slot. Typically, the Audiofy playback window will appear after several seconds to display the table of contents for the audiobook chip, and the audiobook chip will begin to play automatically. If you see the Audiofy playback window but do not hear any audio, click once or twice on the passage in the table of contents that you would like to listen to, and verify the volume is turned up on your computer, display and speakers.
  3. If the Audiofy playback window doesn't appear automatically after a few seconds, locate the Audiofy playback application, labeled "AudiofyPC," on your audiobook chip, and click once or twice to begin listening. To locate the Audiofy playback application, click once or twice on the "My Computer" item that appears in your computer's "Start" menu or on your desktop. In the window that appears, click once or twice on the icon that displays the abbreviated name for your audiobook chip. Finally, click once or twice on the icon labeled "AudiofyPC."

What to Remember

In addition to using the playback application to listen to audiobook chips on your computer, Audiofy invites you to test our new "beta" feature that transfers audiobook chip content to Windows Media Player, and from there to portable PlaysForSure and "secure WMA" media players for listening on the go. To learn more about how to update Audiofy audiobook chips to use this new feature, click here.

Also, new Audiofy audiobook chips now contain "beta" software to transfer audiobook chip content to Apple iPod media players with displays (excludes Apple iPod shuffle models). To read more about testing this feature, or to learn about updating older Audiofy audiobook chips, click here.

Enjoy Audiofy audiobook chips wherever you go.
